Annoying an the Beast

Ok, I have a confession-I killed a Disney princess, namely Belle.

Well maybe that's a bit harsh as I actually only crushed her annoying little gumpaste head.

Why is it that when you think a cake is going to be a 'piece of cake' it usually ends up being the cake from hell? Lol.
After trying 5 different versions of Belle's head I was thoroughly frustrated. Curse you Disney and your cute little button-nosed princesses!!!

Oh well, anger subdued, Belle was no longer doomed to be Ichabod Crane's worst nightmare, cake was finished, customer happy and now I have the rest of the weekend to contemplate my next endeavor.

Wheres my Nyquil

Why is it that we get sick at the worst possible time? Although I suppose there never really is a good time right?

I leave for Vancouver tomorrow afternoon to attend my first conference. Cake Love 2011 should be a blast! I'm taking 10 different classes over three days. Just hope I feel better tomorrow!

Here it goes!

Ok, so I figured that there is really no better time than the present to FINALLY start blogging!  It's been such a crazy few years and to be honest, I never expected my little cake business to turn into an all-consuming career option for me - but I'm there and now this is real.

I've given notice at the job that I have loved for 5 years and my new full-time job title will now be 'Cake designer and Entrepreneur'.  I am so blessed to have found a wonderful business partner and friend to walk with me in this new journey.  We are so excited to begin planning our course of action and to just see where this takes us! 

I have trouble sleeping at night, just thinking of all of the things that are possible, all of the classes we could teach, all of the fabulous cakes we could make! 

Thanks to my family - especially my awesome son, to my friends and colleagues who have been so supportive and encourage me every day to follow my passion.  So here it goes....
